Phonettes is a project around the songs of singer-songwriter Daan Hofman.
About two years ago, with only an analog synthesizer, two guitars and a computer, he started writing material from scratch.
“Like many other musicians I lately started to get interested in electronic instruments and producing music with the computer. For me as a songwriter it’s a challenge to explore the possibilities of synthesizers, drummachines and musical software as new arrangement tools.”
The songs of Phonettes are shaped by Minimalistic rhytmic patterns, New wave grooves with dreamy vocal choirs, pickin’ guitars and warm analog synthsounds, even flirting with lay back techno, but preserving the song as its beating heart.
