Daan Hofman is an Amsterdam based songwriter and filmcomposer. He graduated as a dramatist at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, and studied Composing for film at the Jazz department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
As a singer songwriter he produced two albums. With his debut album Fakkels Van Suiker (2008), he was hailed by Jazzism as "A very special talent”. With some good reviews and a solid live band Daan Hofman toured for years. He was support act for André Manuel, Raymond van het Groenewoud and Ramses Shaffy.
Follower Frederic & de katoenvelden (2013), a mix of American roots music, French chansons and Dutch lyrics was received very well "Hofman reveals himself as an aspiring Pop-Chansonnier" Heaven wrote. Daan was since then seen at De Beste Singer Songwriter van Nederland, reached the semi-finals of De Grote Prijs and won the Prix de Publix at Concour de la Chanson 2014.
Over the years Daan started to write more and more instrumental music. He composed music for theater groups such as tg Echo and Amsterdamse Bos theatre and made a musical radioplay about Georges Seurat for the Kruller Muller Museum.
Since 2018 he focused primarily on filmmusic. He built his own studio where he started scoring a total of thirteen short films. The scores for 48h filmproject got nominated twice for 'Best Musical Score' and won the award in Rotterdam. In the summer of 2019 Daan was part of the Fusion filmscoring masterclass in Thessaloniki and from September he started a master Media Composition by Think Space at Chichester University
Recently, he composed the music for the 2Doc 'De schrijver, de moordenaar en zijn vrouw.
